Complete room fit-out for a lakefront boutique hotel: custom furniture, certified doors, curtains and in-room equipment, from production to installation.
New project for R Collection Hotels
In Varenna, on the eastern shore of Lake Como, Casa du Lac is a boutique hotel of R Collection Hotels: thirteen rooms and suites overlooking the water, renovated to a design by Studio Dell'Uva.
The brief called for contemporary interiors able to sit within the proportions of the building and the character of the place — with the lake, just outside the window, as the true protagonist.
Our contribution
BM Italia handled the complete fit-out of the five rooms and two suites, working from the drawings and specifications of Studio Dell'Uva.
The custom furniture came out of our workshops: headboards with perimeter wood frames and upholstered central panels, wardrobes fitted with integrated LED lighting and dedicated housings for safe and minibar, writing desks with powder-coated metal frames, bedside tables, niche shelving with concealed fixings. In the suites, seating designed around the room itself: a custom-made sofa with chaise, and a curved banquette that follows the line of the wall.
The palette ties every element to its setting: the Arcilla green of the melamine surfaces, the sage green of the lacquered doors, the oak of skirtings and mouldings stained to match the existing floor, the matt anthracite of the metal frames.
The room entrance doors are EI60 fire-rated with 38 dB acoustic insulation: frames with acoustic and smoke seals, concealed door closers, Olivari handles — the safety and quiet that hospitality contract work demands, within a door that reads simply as colour.
The supply was completed with made-to-measure curtains — sheer and blackout, on dedicated tracks —, the sourcing of design pieces (Pedrali chairs upholstered in Kvadrat fabric, HAY side tables, La Palma tables) and the equipment integrated into the wardrobes: bed systems, safes, minibars, luggage racks in bronzed metal and leather.
Every room was engineered on the actual site measurements, one by one, resolving the construction details at shop-drawing stage.
Rooms where the custom work doesn't announce itself: you simply inhabit it.
Every element — from headboard to skirting — belongs to the same palette and the same hand.
And the lake, just outside the window, remains the protagonist.
