Enhancement of Space and Urban Context
The goal of the project was to enhance La Fragola's strategic location, nestled between two pedestrian streets.
To do this, a new color covering was introduced that wraps around the walls and ceiling, creating a soft "box" effect that defines and envelops the interior space, making it visually welcoming and recognizable.
The Art of Gelato as Aesthetic Inspiration
Making gelato is craftsmanship, it is art.
An art of color, reflected in the marble veining of the counter: these recall the movement of the ice cream churning process, but also the flow of the melting gelato, creating a direct link between form, function, and sensoriality.
Gestures, Classicism, and a Homage to Painting
The gelato maker's gestures evoke the world of painting and classicism.
To emphasize this connection, the new furnishings were flanked by reproductions of strawberry-themed portraits.
In particular, a work by Marc Chagall, "Fragrances, Bella and Ida at the Table," was chosen: a tribute to the color and symbolism of strawberries, understood as a sign of joy and optimism towards family, expressed through a palette of intense, nuanced reds.
The Mirror: Function and Symbolism
The mirror, a recurring element in Chagall's works, has also been reinterpreted in the La Fragola project.
Here, it serves a dual function:
It conceals the work area, preserving the visual order of the space.
It creates an elegant passageway to the service area, visually enlarging the space.
A Versatile Place for Every Moment of the Day
La Fragola's new image is not intended to be just that of a classic ice cream parlor.
The goal is to create a welcoming and multifunctional space, suitable for every moment of the day:
- Breakfast,
- Lunch break,
- Afternoon tea,
- Even becoming a relaxing corner for a peaceful break or a meeting with friends.
The Project's Signature
The interior design of La Fragola is by designer Fabio Gianoli, who has interpreted the location's identity with sensitivity and aesthetic coherence, blending art, functionality, and atmosphere into a unique spatial experience.
