Villa SG: A New Chapter for a Historic Residence in Chiavenna
Villa SG is the result of a comprehensive redevelopment project for a historic residence in the heart of Chiavenna. The project aimed to preserve the building's original identity, introducing contemporary architectural solutions and technologies without altering its character. The renovation encompassed the roof, facades, and all interior spaces, striking a balance between conservation, enhancement, and new functionality.
A reinvented garden of greenery, water, and conviviality
The outdoor spaces have been completely redesigned. The new garden is now fully accessible and includes a green area, a swimming pool, and a large terrace, creating a harmonious relationship between the home and the surrounding urban context. The overall concept defines an open, elegant, and contemporary social space.
Upper floor: the living area with a view of the city
The living area was strategically located on the top floor to enjoy the privileged view of the historic center. The kitchen and living area extend here, connecting to a wooden mezzanine that offers a view of the roof structure, enhanced by the restored historic truss. A cellar/pantry and a guest bathroom complete this level.
The central staircase: an identifying element between tradition and contemporary
The vertical distribution of the home is entrusted to a central staircase, clad in reclaimed local stone. It rests on a new reinforced concrete partition, completely clad in smoked mirror, which amplifies the perception of space and introduces a sophisticated material dialogue between past and present.
First floor: the sleeping area as a private retreat
The first floor houses the sleeping area. The master suite and the children's bedrooms each have private bathrooms and walk-in closets, ensuring maximum independence and comfort. The laundry room is located on the same level, designed to ensure functional and complete organization.
Ground floor: reception, play, and well-being
The ground floor features a children's play area, a guest bedroom with its own bathroom, and several walk-in closets. Directly connected to the garden, the wellness area, complete with a sauna, Turkish bath, and mini hydromassage pool, extends the concept of well-being outdoors and becomes a place for daily relaxation.
A dramatic entrance amidst reflections and collections
The main entrance is one of the most iconic elements of the project. The new walls, entirely clad in smoked mirrors, cleverly conceal the elevator shaft and shoe storage area, allowing the staircase and the owner's private collection to take center stage. The effect is dramatic, contemporary, and perfectly integrated into the building's historical context.
Interior design: Fabio Gianoli's signature
The interior design project was overseen by designer Fabio Gianoli, who interpreted the villa's historical identity through a contemporary and refined language. Materials, colors, and furnishing solutions were chosen with the aim of enhancing the existing architectural features, creating harmonious, functional spaces with a distinctive style.
Interior contracting and custom furnishings: execution by BM Italia
The entire interior contracting process was entrusted to BM Italia, which oversaw every phase of the project, transforming the project into tangible, handcrafted spaces. BM Italia oversaw custom furnishings, accessories, and installations, ensuring consistent materials, quality construction, and the highest level of detail throughout the villa.
